* Congratulations to the ram wrestlers for winning the District 3, South Central regional title this past weekend. That is the wrestlers third straight District 3 Team Title. The rams beat Cedar Cliff in the semifinals by a score of 55-9 and then beat Spring Grove in the finals by a score of 54-8. The wrestlers will enter the State Team Championships this friday at the Giant Center with a 16-0 record. They will be looking to win their 6th Pennsylvania State Title.


* The Library will be closed on Monday, February 8th for period 8, due to scheduled classes. The Library will be open for *Research Only for period 3 - there will be limited computers for students to use during this period.


* 11th grade students interested in applying to Penn State to participate in the dual enrollment program for their senior year must submit their completed application t o Ms. Niebel in the guidance office by March 1st.


* There will be a Red Cross Club meeting on Monday, February 8 until 3:30 in the conference rooms.


* Attention, shoppers! There are only 21 shopping days left in which to order your yearbook online at www.smart-pay.com. Only 152 yearbooks are left. Order yours now.


* HACC will be offering it’s annual Career Information Fair on March 11th. This is an opportunity for students to hear experts who are employed in a particular field and learn more about their career, salary ranges, and educational requirements for that specific chosen field. Any junior or senior who is interested in attending this event should see Mrs. Potter or Mrs. Appleby in the guidance suite.


* The Japanese Animation and Culture Club will meet Tuesday at 2:40 in room 241.


* There will be a brief meeting for all Athletes interested in participating in Spring outdoor Track & Field. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria immediately after school on Wednesday, Feb 10th. There will be very important information handed out at this meeting. You will also receive school physical and impact testing information. Please plan on attending. Please see coach Eck if you have any questions.


* Volunteers are needed for this year’s Special Olympics’ meet being held on Thursday, April 15th at Messiah College. If you are interested, please stop by the Girl’s PE office in the morning before 7:30am to pick up a permission slip and information. The first 30 students to turn in their permission slips and money for their tee shirts to Ms. Duncan will be the students who will be signed up to go. Also, ONLY student in grades 9, 10, and 12 who are 16 years or older by April 15th are eligible to sign up. The deadline to sign up is Friday, February 12th. Please consider volunteering for this and exciting day!


* Student Council will be having a meeting after school until 4:15 this Tuesday, February 9, to make Valentine's Day bags for Caitlin's Smiles. Anyone interested in helping out is welcome to attend!


* Do you like dessert? Of course you do. So come on out to the CD Jazz Band's Valentines Dessert Dance on Wednesday February 10th from 6:00PM-8:30PM. The dance will be in the cafeteria, dress is casual to semi-formal, and admission is only $3 per person. All of the evenings desserts are being prepared by the Foods classes at CDHS. The dance will also feature performances by both of the CDHS Jazz Bands as well has professional jazz bassist Josh Davis and his band. Admission is at the door and all CDHS students and family members are welcome. Hope to see you there.


* The United States Naval Academy Parents’ Club of Central Pennsylvania is sponsoring a bus trip to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday, March 27th, for interested students and their parents. The cost of the trip is $55.00 which includes transportation. If interested, please stop in the guidance office to obtain more information.


* Any 11th grade student interested in attending Harrisburg Area Community College during their senior year, must submit a completed application and transcript release form to Ms. Niebel in the guidance by Feb. 16th. Applications and transcript release forms are available in the guidance office.


* Penn State University is holding their annual Visit in Engineering Weekend (VIEW) program from April 8-11. Any 10th or 11th grade student interested in attending may stop in the guidance office for more information. Please see Mrs. Enders.


* Cap and Gown orders are presently $29.50. You must have this to participate in graduation. You may pick up the order form in the main office or contact Balfour at 818-3386 or www.balfour.com


* Attention Senior Students, it is important for you to schedule a meeting with your senior graduation project advisor. Your senior graduation project advisors will be able to answer all questions regarding your project. Remember, the graduation project is a requirement and must be completed and presented to your advisor no later then April 16, 2010 Additional graduation project packets and job shadowing forms are available in the main office.


* There is a LOST and FOUND area in the main office.  Various text books, purses and sweatshirts have been dropped off there.  If you have lost something recently ,you might want to stop by the office and see if it is there.


* Attention 18 year old males: The Selective Service System keeps a list of people who might be called on to serve our country in a national emergency. All 18 year old men MUST register even if you are not a US citizen. Registering makes you eligible for student financial aid, federal job training and federal jobs. So guys, do yourself and your country a favor – register with the Selective Service within 30 days of your 18th birthday – it’s the law!
