Experimentation
To experiment means to find out what works, what doesn’t, and why for different scenarios, which in turn creates more effective designs.
By its very nature, most of the work designers do needs to be experimental because it should take ideas and designs somewhere new. Whether it’s finding new angles to visually translate an idea, or experimenting how to create something new, there needs to be enough time allow for multiple perspectives and directions to be found, explored and experimented with.
The need to push the boundaries and experiment in order to find new and exciting outcomes is more paramount than ever.
Technologists and Engineers avoid fixating on one approach and / or one design solution. They seek to locate the best approach to meet the needs of the end user(s).
Sometimes innovative solutions use resources and processes in unique and unexpected ways. Designers are challenged to generate creative solutions to design problems. Most designers learn best through failure.
Sometimes the best solutions happen as designers combine key features from multiple design ideas.
