Proof Sheets
Why do graphic designers use proof sheets to display their work?
Proof Sheets
When a graphic designer is hired to create a design like a business card or logo, it’s very difficult for the designer to create one perfect design that the client will love. Usually in this situation, the graphic designer will create a few options and give the client a choice. These options are organized and arranged onto a proof sheet and presented to the client for review and selection.
Sometimes called a contact sheet or a selection sheet interchangeably in graphic design and photography. A proof sheet is simply a document that has designs embedded for selection. Designs are arranged on a single or multiple pages in rows and columns.
A proof sheet contains thumbnail images of all the graphic design options for a project. This makes it very easy for your clients to look at the graphics that you have designed and decide which ones they want to order.
Proof sheets are useful to show clients how their finished graphics will look. Proof sheets are sheets filled with all the graphic design options. Proof sheets are easy to produce, will give your clients options, and will make your graphic design business much more professional.
When using software like Photoshop it's actually very easy to create proof sheets. This is simply a matter of selecting the graphics that you want to include and then arranging them on a page.
The best advantage of a proof sheet is that it gives your clients an opportunity to look at the graphic designs before they have ordered them. They can then decide exactly which design they want to order and have printed.
